Introduction
Welcome to the website of the Portlethen and District Voluntary Community Ambulance Association.
The Community Ambulance has been operating in Portlethen, Newtonhill and surrounding area since 1982, with the
primary function of transporting elderly and disabled people to and from their appointments at Portlethen Medical Centre and Portlethen Dental Practice.
In June 2001, the Community Ambulance obtained charitable status and in 2002 were proud to receive the Queens Golden Jubilee Award for Voluntary Service in the Community.
Everyone involved in the charity is a volunteer. The committee, some of whom are also Trustees of the charity, consists of a Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer,
Rota Co-ordinator, Special Requests Coordinator and Maintenance Co-ordinator. Of course the most important volunteers are the drivers.
The charity is mainly supported by contributions from individuals, Community Councils and businesses in the area.
